Thursday ENVOY Program

FRIDAY PROGRAM

What Have You Done for Me Lately?

At Photo-Con this year, PM-R will be showing only work from the last year, shot with A9III, A1, and A7CII.  He will show images from a track meet, Polo, SEC Football, Rugby, mountain biking, baseball, college soccer, high school football, and some portraits, landscapes from The Valley of Fire, and even some images shot at a wedding.  Rather than showing you images from his portfolio that reaches back 35 years, he will show only work from the last year, so you can see the daily grind of images of a working pro.  With each sport and type of photography, he will explain what lenses were used and why.  Consider this an annual portfolio, which he will continue to work on right up until PhotoCon begins!

About Patrick Murphy-Racey

Armed with his B.A., in Photojournalism from Marquette University, his twenty-five year career has only and always been about photography. Murphy-Racey has seen a great variety of assignments since his start in newspapers, through the peak years of being a magazine freelancer, his tenure as a regular contributor to Sports Illustrated, and into the corporate and industrial world of annual reports and advertising. While his assignments are varied and come from many different sources, photojournalism is his first love and constantly informs every assignment. Ever the chameleon, Murphy-Racey’s career is a long series of re-inventions and rebirths, but the visual storytelling remains the same, even as the tools change. From 4x5 to 4K, he’s technically inclined and loves making great images. Patrick is more than competent in covering just about any assignment, but his specialties include dramatic and creative use of strobe & LED lighting, sports action photography, environmental portraits, and powerful, well-lit HD interview video production.
