Are you feeling like your creativity is stuck? Or, do you want to learn how to implement advanced lighting techniques into your work? Join me as we explore the possibilities of creative lighting! We are all storytellers, but some stories can be brought to a new level by the way we use light!
You will familiarize yourself with concepts and tools that can be used to unlock new ways of crafting imagery.

Topics will include:

  • Choice of modifiers and their roles in creative lighting

  • How to use advanced lighting tools to control light (gobos, gels, and more!)

  • Creating motivated lighting for storytelling

  • Finding inspiration and how to implement it

  • Steps to develop concepts for creative portraits

  • How to pitch creative ideas to clients

  • Guiding subjects through dynamic posing

  • Introduction to editing techniques to elevate your lighting

There’s a whole new world of possibilities that creative lighting will unlock. I am looking forward to meeting and creating with you! What story will you tell with light next?

About JULIE GAYLER

Julie is well versed in a number of photography genres and enjoys tinkering with light to achieve creative results. Her goal with photography is to bridge the gap between fine art and cinematic style portraits. Besides working on commissioned projects, Julie regularly travels the country to teach off-camera lighting to other photographers. She has taught over 50 seminars to date, and hundreds of students. As an instructor, Julie meets her students at their level of ability and does everything she can to help them realize their creative potential. She’s always prepared with a bag full of Westcott gear to help someone’s idea come into focus.
