Robert Trawick
I’m Robert Trawick, sometimes called by my nickname “Dixie” — a lifelong photographer with a camera always in reach and a good cup of coffee never too far away. My journey started with a hand-me-down 1958 Argus C3 when I was just 13, and I’ve been chasing light and stories ever since.
I spent 20 years as a photojournalist in the U.S. Air Force, traveling to over 80 countries and capturing life as it unfolded — from war zones to peaceful villages. That experience shaped how I see the world: through a lens of curiosity, respect, and a deep love for telling real stories.
After the military, I built a career as a full-time commercial and portrait photographer, working with brands, couples, creatives, and everyday folks. But these days, I’m diving headfirst into the solo artist life — focused on exploring forgotten places, back roads, and offbeat corners of the world. My current obsession? Pairing modern Fujifilm cameras with old-school manual focus vintage lenses. There’s something magical about slowing down and seeing differently.
I’ve always believed photography is meant to be shared, not just through prints, but through teaching and conversation. That’s why I lead workshops, mentor upcoming creatives, and even co-host the FotoFacts Podcast for 10 years. I love helping others see the world in new ways — preferably over a strong cup of black coffee and a few laughs.
You’ll find me roaming the streets of small towns, tucked into roadside cafés, or chasing the light down a dusty trail — always looking for that next story to tell.
