Creative Lighting, Light Painting and Posing in Any Location.
This creative lighting and posing workshop will take you through beautiful lighting starting with a single strobe and progressing through multiple strobe setups, to gain the desired lighting effect. We will add different types of light modifiers and color gels into our photographs. Throughout the workshop, we cover posing your models and other tricks to have your subject give the desired looks. The workshop will end by adding light painting and smoke to your images. Throughout the workshop Rick will share many of his lighting tricks gained from his decades as a portrait and magazine photographer, including which lens is the right lens for the look you are after.

Rick Friedman is an internationally published photojournalist and photo educator whose work consists of high-end portraiture, advertising, branding, corporate and editorial assignments. Rick has been teaching his “Location Lighting Workshops” aka “Lighting and Laughing” across the US, Canada United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, for over 20 years. His work has appeared in National Geographic, Time, Newsweek, NY Times, Washington Post, Guardian, Times of London, Nature, Der Spiegel and many other publications. His photographs have appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CNN news and on Saturday Night Live. Rick has produced over 75 book and magazine covers and worked on over 20 films and TV shows. He has photographed every US President from Jimmy Carter to Donald Trump, hundreds of celebrities, models, and academics. Rick’s work has been in shows in Boston, New York, Washington, DC, and in the United Arab Emirates. Rick has appeared in several films and on numerous podcasts.
